First Time Puppy Owner
"I am a first time puppy owner and I don't know what I would have done without Treasure Coast Dog Training. I was pretty overwhelmed and Val was perfect. She was very professional but also very patient and kind and she made it really easy to pick up on the training techniques. My Jazzy loves them and she has made so much progress in her obedience training. I am so thankful to have found the perfect fit for me and my doggy with Treasure Coast Dog Training. I highly recommend them. "

Meet Val - Manager and Trainer
A microbiologist and cell scientist by profession, Valerie found that her passion in life was training and enjoying the outdoors with her dogs. Like many of our clients, Valerie found herself frustrated, guilty, and saddened when her dog began to have human and dog aggression. She credits her dog for sparking her interest in behavioral training.
Val also enjoys competing in French Ring with her Malinois, Charlie Bear, and is also interested in the performance aspect of canine sports. She is a certified canine fitness trainer through the University of Tennesee and has successfully conditioned dogs at the national level. She has worked alongside veterinarians for many years- first as a vet technician and now as a fitness coach in rehabilitation cases.
Valerie is now in her sixth year as a professional dog trainer. She continues to educate herself on animal behavior and has completed courses at university level. She has evolved into an intelligent and compassionate dog training professional. Her strong science and technical background makes her a great manager and trainer for Treasure Coast Dogs. When not training dogs, Val enjoys entomology, mycology, hiking, paddle boarding, and reading a good book on the beach.
Puppy Training FAQ
Does my puppy need to be fully vaccinated before starting your Puppy Program?**
No. Per the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior, puppies should receive exposure and socialization before they are fully vaccinated. As your coaches, it is our job to discuss and show you the proper steps of socialization and exposure training for a young dog.
Where would my puppy live during a Sleepaway Camp?
Your puppy will be sleeping near us because, well, that's how we know when to take them out for their midnight potty breaks. Because potty training is such an important part of your puppy's stay with us here, we make sure that your puppy gets the attention they need from us during this critical part of their lives. Our Sleep Away Camp also comes with 3 months of supoprt and two private coaching lessons to help you understand how to encourage and discourage behaviors.
What will I learn during the coaching lessons?
That depends on you, your puppy, and the training program we create together. The goal of our coaching lessons is to teach you how to think like a dog trainer. You will leave each lesson with a game plan on resolving your issues but also a little wiser on how animals learn.
